Person Centred Counsellor
Sara is an experienced person centred counsellor having worked with a range of emotional issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues and loss. Person centred therapy is a humanistic approach to therapy. As a person centred counsellor Sara believes that given the right conditions within the therapeutic relationship an individual can reach their full potential and become their true self. Any individual attending a counselling session with Sara is encouraged to bring their own issues to the session as the session is led by the individual and not the counsellor.
Sara will endeavour to support individuals to work through their difficulties, helping to build confidence within a non-judgemental, supportive and trustworthy therapeutic relationship. As a person centred therapist Sara believes that we are all the expert on our own life as nobody else lives our life but us.
Prior to qualifying with a BA (Hons) in Counselling Studies Sara has worked a variety of occupations from retail through to hospitality roles. Sara spent four years volunteering on the telephone and conducting face to face sessions with the Samaritans. Her interest in therapy was sparked by a life-long desire to explore people’s behaviour and the value system (ideals) a person holds that may create issues which lead to certain behaviours.
Sara is looking to extend her therapy knowledge by undertaking more training in the areas of couples and workplace counselling in order to facilitate healthier relationships and manage conflict.
Sara holds a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling Studies and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
